History
2025 is Treebone's 30th year carving gunstocks. I am a 2nd generation carver, my father being George L. Petersen of Western Gunstock Mfg., Aptos, Calif. Dad passed away in 2025 at the age of 96. Like him, I work alone, no hired help. Any stock that comes out of my shop was carved by me. While I did not keep close track of how many stocks I carved over the years, the number is conservatively 4500, likely more. You might say I learned the craft by default, I cannot remember not being surrounded by Walnut. Dad was big into Varmint and Benchrest patterns, but my passion was single shots and leveractions, and that is what inspired Treebone. Over the past 30 years I have accumulated a library of over 100 single shot and levergun patterns and keep 1500 dry blanks on hand to choose from. |
Business Philosophy
Deliver a quality product, deal honestly with the customer. Sometimes I come off as gruff (to put it lightly) but I would talk a person out of buying a stock rather than make a sale to someone that may not be prepared for the job. |
