History
2007 is Treebone's 14th year carving gunstocks. I am a 2nd generation carver, my father being
George L. Petersen of Western Gunstock Mfg., Aptos, Calif. You might say I learned the craft by default,
I cannot remember not being surrounded by Walnut. At one time as a child, my bedroom walls were stacks
of gunstock blanks. The logs were stacked around the house high enough that if it weren't for the roof, you would not have
known there was a house behind the pile.
Dad was big into Varmint and Benchrest patterns, but my
passion was single shots and leveractions, and that is what inspired Treebone. Over the past 10 years I
have accumilated a library of over 200 single shot and levergun patterns and keep 3-4000 dry blanks on hand to choose from.
